I am a registered clinical psychologist with experience in public and private mental health settings. I have enjoyed many years working at the Department of Psychological Medicine at King Edward Memorial Hospital, as well as working at other inpatient, outpatient and community mental health services.
I have worked primarily with adults with a broad range of presenting issues in both individual and group therapy settings. My main areas of interest and experience are in perinatal mental health, women’s health, trauma, trauma-informed care and well-being.
My therapeutic approach is warm, caring, and authentic. I work within a trauma-informed, evidence based, person-centred framework. I am passionate about the importance of reducing mental health problems as well as promoting mental health and well-being.
My intention is to build a strong therapeutic relationship with you and work collaboratively to achieve your mental health and well-being goals. This may include building insight into or ‘making sense’ of your psychological experience, psychoeducation, reducing your distress and increasing your tolerance for distress, developing strategies to support your mental health and promote your coping and psychological resilience. As well as supporting you to manage interpersonal difficulties and build stronger relationships.
I am trained in and draw on therapeutic and theoretical frameworks including mindfulness-based therapy, body-oriented therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, trauma theory, neuroscience of trauma, clinical application of polyvagal theory and circle of security.
